I believe you have nailed the aversion that most people have with the concept that the medical industry knowingly and willingly allows hundreds of thousands to die in the pursuit of profit. Most people (semi)subconsciously reject this idea because they are scared to confront what it would mean for their conception of the world.
It would violate the collective fantasy about whom our institutions - government, regulators, media - are really serving.
Most people would prefer not to look.
I know from personal experience that this is indeed how global, trillion-dollar industries work and the gross perversions that they are incentivised to commit.
